DEI Valet has 5 models to choose from. Everything from the simple convenience of starting your vehicle from inside your home or work to warm it up or cool it down à to a "Two-Way" LCD remote monitored security protection of your vehicle. See How Remote Starters Work for a general description.

All DEI Remote Car Starters have the same high quality operation and performance. They vary only in additional features and operating range.

DEI Valet Remote Car Starters are designed for automatic transmission, fuel injection vehicles only. Installing them in a standard transmission vehicle is dangerous and is contrary to their intended use.

The installation of all of the DEI Valet Remote Car Starters is very similar. The "remote start" portion of the installation is identical. DEI Valet Systems with Security just involve hooking up the security items also, such as the siren, door opening protection, shock sensor, etc.

Here is generally what's involved: (For specific details, see the DEI Valet Install Guides.)
The DEI Valet CPU Control Module ("the brain") is installed inside the vehicle, up under the dash, generally on the driver's side because that's where most of the vehicle's factory wiring connections are located. Of course, you can install the CPU behind the glove box, in the center console, etc. if you prefer.

Generally you remove the under-dash panel, and probably the crash/safety foam and support, to be able to more easily get at the factory wiring connections.
We provide you with a Vehicle Wiring Locator Sheet specifically for your vehicle (with your order) to assist you in locating and determining the factory wiring that you will make connections to.The DEI Install Guide that comes with the Valet, explains step-by-step how these wiring connections are made.Refer to the Install Guide for the specific DEI Valet Remote Starter you are interested in.

Determine a location for the Valet Control Module (CPU).

Find and "test" the factory wires you need to connect to. Use a multi-meter for testing wires.

A good source for the 12 Volts constant power, the starter wire, the ignition wire, the accessories wires, etc, is generally found on the ignition harness at the steering column. These are the main connections that power the module, turn on your ignition, start the vehicle, and turn on your heater or A/C.The identifying colors of these wires, and their polarity ( + or - ), are identified on the Vehicle Wiring Locator Sheet for your specific vehicle.

Parking light connections are found behind the parking light switch or at factory wire plugs as identified on the DEI Vehicle Wiring Locator Sheet.

Power door lock / unlock wires are found in factory wiring harnesses, or in factory wiring plugs.

Factory alarm (anti-theft protection) arm and disarm wires are found in factory wiring harnesses or in factory plugs.

The tachometer wire is found at the vehicle's ECM (engine control module).

The brake light wire (for brake pedal shutdown) is found at the brake pedal switch.

Door triggers are found at factory harnesses or at the BCM (body control module) for door opening protection if your Valet has a security system built-in also.

The horn wire (for horn honk) is generally found at the steering column.

The read defogger wires are generally found behind the defroster switch on the dash.

For each factory wire that you need to connect to, you find it by the color identification and the location shown on the Vehicle Wiring Information Sheet for your specific vehicle. You "test" each wire with a digital multi-meter to verify its polarity and that it is the correct factory wire you are looking for. Do not use a 12-volt test light, they are not safe to use on newer vehicles because they can damage vehicle components.

Make the wiring connections for the DEI Valet Wiring Harnesses to the factory wires you have located and tested.Do this step-by-step as they are defined in the DEI Valet Install Manual.

Install the Valet Switch.

Install the LED light.

Most new and recent model vehicles have factory anti-theft systems to prevent a vehicle being started without the specific owner's key in the ignition. DEI Remote starters can be installed in all of these vehicles using the appropriate DEI Bypass Module to enable the vehicle to start and run during the remote starting operation without a key in the ignition. DEI Bypass Modules do not compromise your vehicle's anti-theft protection. Refer to DEI Bypass Modules for your specific vehicle to determine if one is required for your vehicle.

Install the DEI Bypass Module according to its instructions (if your vehicle needs a bypass module).

Then plug in the Valet Control Module (and/or insert the fuses in the Valet Wiring Harness) and test the system's operation.

Set the operating settings and features according to the Install Guide.

Verify the operation and the settings you have chosen.

Then place and secure the Valet Control Module up under the dash (or wherever you decided to put it) and wire-tie up all of the wiring harnesses to keep them neat and out of the way.

Replace the vehicle's crash safety/foam support and the under-dash panel, and you're done!

We provide a DEI Wiring Information Sheet for your specific vehicle to assist you in finding the appropriate factory wires needed the install a DEI Remote Starter System.Be sure to include your vehicle information (year – make – model) with your order.
